A Journey Through Stories, Culture, and Science: EY and PYP 1–3 Visit Ogulin and Smiljan
5/12/2025

At Adria International School, we view learning as an experience that extends far beyond the classroom walls, so recently, our EY and PYP 1–3 students participated in an enriching full-day excursion designed to explore Croatian cultural heritage, literature and scientific innovation.
The day commenced in Ogulin at Ivana’s Fairy Tale House, where students engaged deeply with the world of storytelling. Through guided inquiry, creative activities, and interactive play, they explored the rich tradition of Croatian fairy tales and fostered their imagination and critical thinking.
Following a lunch in Gospić, the students continued their journey to Smiljan for a guided visit to the Nikola Tesla Memorial Centre. Here, interactive exhibits and hands-on experiences enabled students to gain insight into Tesla’s pioneering work and its enduring impact on science and technology.
Throughout the day, students actively questioned, investigated, and drew meaningful connections to their Units of Inquiry. This excursion demonstrated how literature, culture, and scientific discoveries contribute to our understanding of the world and inspire curiosity, creativity, and lifelong learning.
