A Day Trip to Krapina: A Journey Through Time

4/10/2024

Our school embarked on an unforgettable day trip to Krapina, a destination rich in history and natural beauty. The day was filled with excitement, learning, and unforgettable experiences.
We started the morning with a thrilling “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire” quiz about prehistoric times. Our students showcased their knowledge and enthusiasm, but were also preparing for the day of exploring history and culture that was in front of them.

After the quiz, we headed to the Vivae Aqua Park for a refreshing swim. The students had fun enjoying water sports with the guidance of their Physical Education teacher. For lunch, we indulged in a delicious traditional Croatian meal at Kramberger Pub.

In the afternoon, we embarked on a fascinating Treasure Hunt in the town of Krapina. Armed with tasks and clues from their History teacher, the students explored the town’s hidden gems and learned about its rich cultural heritage. The competitive spirit was high as teams raced to find the “treasure” and develop their collaboration and problem-solving skills.

The highlight of our trip was undoubtedly our visit to the Neanderthal Museum. Through an interactive guided tour, we gained a deeper understanding of the life of the Krapina Neanderthal. We learned about their daily activities, their tools, and their social structure and travel to prehistoric times. It was a truly immersive experience that brought history to life.
As we made our way back to school, the students couldn’t stop talking about their favorite moments of the day. From the thrilling quiz to the exciting Treasure Hunt and the fascinating Neanderthal Museum, it was a day filled with adventure and learning.

This day trip to Krapina was more than just an excursion; it was a valuable learning experience that will stay with our students for years to come. They had the opportunity to explore local history in the context of world history, learn about different cultures and develop important skills. We are looking forward to our next trip!
