A Wonderful First Week of Summer School: Exploring the Coast
20/6/2026

Our Summer School is off to a fantastic start! During our first week, themed Explore the Coast, students embarked on a variety of exciting activities that combined learning, creativity, and outdoor adventure.
The week began with each child creating their own Summer School Journal. These journals will accompany them throughout the summer, serving as a place to collect memories, record discoveries, reflect on experiences, and showcase their work. By the end of the programme, they will be filled with stories, drawings, and reminders of all the adventures shared together.
Throughout the week, our students explored the fascinating world of coastal environments. They investigated marine ecosystems, experimented with water, observed life along the shoreline, and transformed their discoveries into creative projects. Every day brought something new, from science experiments and nature exploration to art activities and outdoor games.
One of the highlights of the week was a walk along the beautiful Carmen Sylva Path near Opatija. Surrounded by forest and stunning sea views, the children took time to observe the natural world around them and discuss the importance of protecting it. Inspired by what they saw, they later created drawings showing the difference between nature that is cared for and nature that is neglected, encouraging thoughtful conversations about environmental responsibility.
These photos capture just a small glimpse of everything we experienced during our first week. The children embraced every opportunity to learn, explore, create, and work together while enjoying the beauty of our coastline.
And this is only the beginning! Each week of Summer School brings a brand-new theme, exciting projects, and fresh adventures. We can’t wait to see what the coming weeks will bring.
