Adria International School is pleased to take part in Children’s Weekend in Opatija, with activities planned for Thursday, 8 October, followed by Games Without Borders on Saturday, 10 October.

The programme gives our students an opportunity to learn beyond the classroom through educational, cultural, creative and sports activities organised in cooperation with institutions and organisations across Opatija.

Early Years

10:00–10:30 | V. C. Emin Public Library
Students will explore the library, learn how books are organised and take part in a team-based “Library Mystery” challenge.

11:00–11:45 | DND Opatija – Storytelling Workshop
The morning will continue with Bajkaonica, a storytelling workshop prepared especially for our youngest students.

PYP 1

9:00 | Visit to the Fire Brigade
Students will discover firefighting equipment and observe exercises and demonstrations.

PYP 2

9:30 | Folklore Performance by FA Zora
Students will experience local cultural heritage through a traditional folklore performance.

PYP 3

11:00 | Parkovi Opatija
Students will decorate flower pots and plant seedlings during a creative hands-on activity.

PYP 4 & PYP 5

8:30 | Visit to the Mayor’s Office
Students will visit the Mayor’s Office and learn more about the work of local government.

Meeting point: City Hall at 8:20. Students participating in this activity should not meet at school.

MYP 1, MYP 2 & MYP 3

10:00 | Windsurfing Presentation in Volosko
Students will attend a presentation introducing them to windsurfing and this important part of Opatija’s coastal environment.

MYP 4 & MYP 5

10:00 | Hubbazia – Introduction to Entrepreneurship
Students will learn about entrepreneurship and the work of Hubbazia.

11:00 | Gervais Centre – “100 Years of Modern Quantum Physics”
Dr. Sc. Saša Ceci will introduce students to key ideas in quantum physics, artificial intelligence, quantum computers and quantum entanglement in an accessible and engaging lecture.

Diploma Programme

8:30 | Thalassotherapia Opatija
DP students will learn about different careers and professional roles within a healthcare institution.

10:00–17:00 | Small and Large Summer Stage, Opatija

Children’s Weekend continues on Saturday with Games Without Borders, a full-day programme for children and families.

The programme will include performances, an amusement park, an educational STEM island, dance activities and other entertainment.

Adria International School will also participate with its dedicated Adria International School Fun Camp, creating another opportunity to meet, play and enjoy the day together.
